Local Enhancement Programme 2025 

Over €137,000 in current and capital funding has been allocated to 91 community groups and organisations across Galway City as announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, and Minister of State Jerry Buttimer.A full list of successful groups is available here.

The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht’s (DRCDG) Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2025 is administered by Local Community Development Committees, with support from the Local Authority, in each area. The funding provides capital support essential for the many small community groups and organisations, particularly those who serve disadvantaged areas in rural and urban areas.

Local Community Festival Grants 2025  

€25,000 allocated to 24 community groups and organisations in Galway City as approved at the June Council meeting. This grant scheme provides small scale funding to support community festivals, events, and cultural activities run by local community and voluntary groups to encourage, support and celebrate participation in communities across Galway City.

Community Action, Inclusion, Regeneration, Development & Environment (CAIRDE) Grant 2025 

€565,000 allocated to 66 successful applicants under the CAIRDE 2025 scheme as approved at the June council meeting.  The List of successful applicants can be found here.

The funding approved is allocated from Galway City Council’s Annual Budget 2025, as adopted by the Elected Members. Projects approved for funding include:

  • Community development, cultural initiatives and promotion of Irish language

  • Regeneration of public spaces and local amenities

  • Projects promoting inclusion and accessibility

  • Environmental sustainability and climate action

  • Local economic development and tourism
